Learning
and Teaching
Every student at St Mary’s has recently taken part in a range of assessments to help us best support their learning. Our ESOs, Laura and Hailey, together with classroom teachers, have completed a significant amount of work to ensure we have a clear understanding of each child’s progress. It has been a wonderful start to the year in both teaching and learning.
These screening assessments allow teachers to plan lessons that both consolidate existing knowledge and extend students with new learning. Through the Magnify Sandhurst program, results are recorded promptly and mapped in a data system. Over time, this builds a clear picture of what each student knows and what they are ready to learn next, enabling teaching to be carefully targeted to student needs.
NAPLAN
Next month, our Grade 3 and Grade 5 students will participate in NAPLAN testing. Classroom teachers are providing opportunities for students to become familiar with the format and expectations of the assessments. Further information will be shared with families closer to the time.
Learning Conversations
In Week 6, we will be holding Learning Conversations. Once times are confirmed, families will receive a notification via PAM where you will be able to book a meeting with your child’s classroom teacher. These meetings are an opportunity for students and families to celebrate successes and discuss goals that will support ongoing growth and achievement.
More information will be shared soon, and we thank you for your continued support of your child’s learning.
