Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back for Term 3

I hope you and your family had a restful holiday, full of fun, family times and relaxation. It is so good to see all the children back at school, dressed impressively in their winter uniforms, ready and enthusiastic to commence the next semester of learning.

To all our students; welcome back to another exciting 10 weeks of ‘driving your learning’, making new friendships and achieving your personal best. For parents of little ones who have experienced some distress in the mornings returning to school after the break, can I suggest that you just continue to reassure them that all will be OK. The change in routine from comfy ‘sleep-ins’ and extended time with family, to getting up early and returning to school, can sometimes make them feel a little nervous. Some of us feel the same when we are returning to work after a time away. Two weeks is a long time for young children. Remember, be strong and keep smiling. They will learn from our confidence and trust that all will be well.

NAPLAN Reports Distributed Today

The Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN reports will be distributed today. Parents will receive their

child's individual student report and an information sheet about the NAPLAN results.

Since 2023, NAPLAN results have been reported against proficiency standards, with student achievement shown against 4 levels of proficiency. This replaced what were previously numerical NAPLAN bands and national minimum standards.

We are delighted with the students' results and the significant learning improvements they have demonstrated. Our staff will use this valuable data to inform and enhance future learning programs for our students.

Staff Update

I regret to announce that Nicholle Stenhouse, one of our dedicated Learning Support Assistants, has decided to resign from her position at Holy Family for personal reasons.

Nicholle has been an invaluable member of the Holy Family School community for many years, demonstrating unwavering commitment and dedication to students, teachers, staff and parents. Her support and contributions have significantly impacted our school, particularly the students requiring additional learning support. On behalf of the Holy Family community, I wish Nicholle all the very best in her future endeavours and sincerely thank her for her many years of outstanding service.

At the same time, I am pleased to warmly welcome two new Learning Support Assistants to Holy Family. Erica Baldry and Sophie Trigona are both undertaking their teaching degrees at university and bring fresh perspectives and learning to their new positions. We look forward to the positive impact they will have on our students and staff.

Playground Completion

I am delighted to announce that our new playground has been finished and is ready for our students to enjoy. This wonderful addition to our school environment would not have been possible without the incredible support and fundraising efforts of our Parents & Friends (P&F) and our dedicated parents.

Your generous contributions have covered the costs of the works, allowing us to create a space that will benefit our students for years to come. On behalf of the entire Holy Family community, I extend my sincere thanks to everyone involved. Your commitment to enhancing our school facilities is deeply appreciated. We look forward to seeing the students explore, play, and create lasting memories in this fantastic new playground. Thank you once again for your unwavering support.

Holiday Maintenance

Several maintenance projects were completed during the holidays, ensuring our school is in top condition for our students to enjoy. Here are the updates:

  • Freshly Painted Library: Our library has received a fresh coat of paint, creating a bright and inviting space for our students to read and learn.
  • New Air Conditioning Unit: The Year 2G classroom now has a new air conditioning unit, providing a comfortable learning environment for our students throughout the year.
  • New Plants in the Garden: We have added new plants to the undercroft area, enhancing the natural beauty of our school grounds and creating a pleasant outdoor space for everyone to enjoy.

These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible environment for our students' learning and well-being. We are excited for the students to experience enjoy the enhanced facilities.
