TheirCare Update
WELCOME BACK TO TERM 3!
Hello everyone! We have had a great start to the term. The children have been getting back into imaginative play using our special “explore” area, this also gets used when children feel they need some quiet calm time on their own or to self-regulate. We have also got a few new games like indoor golf, tumble maze (logic game), a few new Lego sets, some are very complicated but it’s great to see some of the children working together, communicating, and supporting each other but also being comfortable knowing that it is a long term project and many more activities.
Some children have shown a strong interest in experiments so we will be looking into different experiments whilst we keep going with lots of arts and crafts and having lots of fun. Another great interest is designing clothes for Barbie dolls, building forts, working out mazes and looking up recipes to make our own slime, goop and other sensory activities.
Children are encouraged to write down recipes working on their writing skills, while making these they are using measuring cups, spoons and working out what else we need to add. This also encourages problem-solving.
Last term we did a lot of work on respecting each other, being kind and supporting each other. The children have been absolutely amazing at achieving this big goal and appear to be very proud of themselves.
This term we will be working on SELF LOVE, a positive attitude whilst continuing kindness, respect and supporting each other. Our other term 3 goal is respecting the indoor environment, toys, packing away after playing with an activity and also the outdoor environment and recycling.
We have also changed many ingredients and meals as much healthier options as sugar-free as possible. Please feel free to jot down any ideas in our reflection diary behind the sign-in pad for activities or simple recipes.
We are very excited to let you know that Sarah the grades 5/6 teacher at Ripponlea Primary School will be joining our service once a month as the boxing instructor. She will be guiding children using different techniques with the focus being on when and how it is acceptable to use boxing. Sarah has experience working with children training them in boxing. The first Thursday this will start is the 15th of August, and children will need to be booked into Theircare in the afternoon.
I will also be looking into other activities we can include such as arts and crafts and cooking lessons. You will be notified of these extra activities once I have them organized.
Please feel free to organise to have a chat or email me on ripponlea@theircare.com.au
Kind regards,
