Performing Arts

Welcome back for Term 3 

It has been great to have the students back at school and eager to learn and participate in all the activities in Performing Arts.

Foundation 

The foundation students this term will be focusing on learning about how to correctly and appropriately play the different musical instruments that are provided to them at school. 

We will begin this week focusing on the smaller instruments such as egg shakers, triangles and bongo drums to ease them into. 

Hopefully learning how to make different pitches. 

They will also take part in learning some different dances such as the Cha Cha Slide, Macarena and Nutbush etc to help break up their lessons. 

Grade 1/2 

The grade 1 and 2 students this term will be focusing on some different musical games which help engage them with using their vocals to sing different songs in which there is also a game attached to them also to help students engage in the activity of singing and movement. 

This will allow students to understand the different vocal ranges and chords used to sing different verses of the songs. Focusing on nursery rhymes etc.

Grade 3/4

The grade 3 and 4 students this term will be focusing on a drama unit, relating specifically to emotions and how we as actors can incorporate emotions into our skits to help engage our audience more and portray our feelings using facial expressions.

Students will be working with the movie Inside out and the different emotions that are displayed within this movie to help us break down what each emotion means and how we can portray them within their final performances of their own play 

Grade 5/6  

Students in grade 5 and 6 will be focusing this term on learning new forms of dance styles, such as line dancing, salsa etc. 

They will also be given the opportunity to learn some of the harder instruments in the classroom such as the Ukulele, Recorders, Piano etc. 

This will give students the opportunity to see if music is a pathway they would like to take in high school but also allows them to learn the different instruments that are used within different styles of music.
