Visual Arts
This term Levels 1, 3, 5 and 6 have been working on a modelling unit. Making clay artworks is a firm favourite with our students. They have been making some incredible creations, which they are looking forward to showing you.
Level 1 have been practising their modelling skills to make fish using terracotta clay. They learnt how to roll out clay into a slab and add patterns with modelling tools. Once their clay has been fired in the kiln, they will paint it and take it home. They have also been exploring Magiclay to make real or imaginary bugs.
Level 3 have made rockets with terracotta clay. They too have been practising making slabs. They also practiced how to join clay together and add patterns. They have made smiley faces and Magiclay friendship badges to give to friends and family to make them smile.
Level 5 and 6 students have been exploring using plasticine to make artworks. Inspired by Aboriginal artist, Reko Rennie, they have been making self-portrait cars, which reflect themselves, their family and their culture. They have also made wall hanging or tiles using white clay. Additionally, they are practicing their modelling skills to make their own clay creation. Once their clay artworks are kiln fired and painted, they too will be going home.
