YEAR 10

TERM 3

Hi, Year 10 Families

Welcome to NAIDOC Week! This week, we recognise and enjoy various activities from our First Nations People within the St Mary's community. All students are encouraged to get involved across the week.

Year 10 Key Information

  • Congratulations to the Year 10 students who received Academic Awards for Semester 1. Your hard work and dedication have indeed paid off, and it was wonderful to see so many of you recognised on stage. Your achievements set an excellent example for your peers and inspire others to strive for excellence. Keep up the fantastic work!

  • SETPlan interview appointments continue this week, and students can schedule them through the SSO SETPlanning platform. Interviews for all pathways are still available and will take place on the following dates:

    - Thursday, 1 August from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
    - Tuesday, 6 August from 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Additional VET-only interviews are available on the following dates:

    - Tuesday, 30 July from 11:00 pm – 1:00 pm
    - Tuesday, 6 August from 11:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Students are encouraged to make their appointments promptly to secure their preferred times.

  • In the coming weeks, as part of the pastoral program, Pastoral Mentors will engage students in conversations about their reflections on Semester 1 report cards. These discussions will provide students with guidance and support in addressing academic challenges and setting goals. Such interactions are invaluable for offering tailored advice and developing effective strategies for academic success. We also encourage parents to have similar conversations at home to further support their child's academic and personal growth.

Whole of College Key Information

Catholic Education last week was a fantastic opportunity for us to come together as a community to celebrate! Thank you to the staff and students who prepared the breakfast on Wednesday morning. Sharing a meal together is a fantastic way to share in community spirit.

We wish our St Mary's Athletics Team, which will represent the College at the TCS Trials next Thursday and Friday, the best of luck! We look forward to hearing about the many successes from the day soon.

Our House Competition is in full swing for Term 3 at the College. Many year levels have engaged in activities earning valuable house points. Students can collect house points through participation in school clubs, teams, tutoring, sports, and other areas within the arts. Additionally, students can collect points through positive behaviour choices and earn merits. We look forward to declaring the winning house in Week 10 this term.

Week 4 Uniform Schedule & Reminders

During NAIDOC Week, students can wear either the current or previous year's NAIDOC shirt with their St Mary's sports shorts any day this week.

MyCE APP - PLEASE DOWNLOAD!

The MyCE App is available to all families with students enrolled at any Catholic School within the Catholic Education Dioceses of Cairns. It is the easiest and most efficient way to access information regarding your child/ren and their school-based information.

The functionality is fantastic! As of right now, all St Mary's families can:

Log an absence, view the College events calendar, check your child's daily schedule, access and sign your Parent Slips, receive targeted news feed notifications (that are only relevant to your child,) view and download student reports, access College documents quickly...the list goes on and on!

We encourage all families to download the app as soon as possible, as we are now actively using the platform as a primary communication tool.
