What's On In Foundation

And just like that the first year of schooling is over!

All our Foundation students can be very proud of everything they have achieved this year. Throughout the year, they have grown in confidence, learned many new skills, and become more independent in their learning and everyday routines. They have also made new friendships, worked well together, and shared many special moments.

To our wonderful Foundation students, thank you for making this year so special for your teachers. We have loved learning and growing with you. We know that each one of you will do an amazing job and soar with confidence as you move into Year 1 next year!

We also wish all our families a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable holiday break.

A Year of Highlights

There have been so many highlights for our students. Term one included our Teddy Bear’s Picnic and celebrating our school’s diversity during Harmony Day. We enjoyed our weekly Garden sessions with Ashley as we explored the concept of sustainability during Term 2. Children embraced the Dreamtime story of Tiddalik as they dressed up and performed, with the guidance of a Drama Toolbox incursion. Weekly P.M.P. was also a great chance for us to develop our fine and gross motor skills, and see our fabulous family members who came in to help.

Term 3 was the party of the year when we celebrated 100 days at school. It was so lovely seeing students wearing their creative t-shirts that showcased…you guessed it…the number 100! We also had visits from many of our community helpers. The Police and Firefighters impressed us with their uniforms and cool vehicles.

What a jam packed Term 4 we had! Foundation students morphed into green frogs as they grooved along to the song ‘Tricky Frog’ at our school performance. We then dashed through clouds of dust at the school Colour Run and then were busy splashing around the pool during our Swimming Program. With excitement, students boarded the bus to the Sea Life Aquarium late in Term 4 (You can read more about our fabulous excursion below!) We also had four terms of fun with our big buddies, who are a special part of our first year of school. Luckily there are holidays because we are exhausted from all of the fun things to do at school!

Sea Life Aquarium

With much excitement, we boarded the bus and travelled to the Sea Life Aquarium. We had been learning about many different sea creatures, so we were very excited to finally see them in real life. From the moment we arrived, our visit did not disappoint.

As we walked through the aquarium, we looked at all the amazing creatures that live under the sea. We watched the small seahorses swimming gently in the water and learned interesting facts about them. One of the most exciting moments was when we were able to touch a sea star and shark eggs. It felt very special to have such close up experiences.

We also saw stingrays gliding smoothly through the water and sharks swimming around their tank. It was exciting and a little bit scary to see them up close. We watched them move calmly and confidently, which made the experience even more interesting.

Another highlight of our visit was seeing Pesto the penguin. He has grown up now and no longer has his fluffy fur, which was fun to notice. Overall, the trip to the Sea Life Aquarium was a wonderful experience. It helped us learn more about sea life and made our learning fun, exciting, and memorable.
