Student Counsellor Update

Thank you to Rena who has now completed her counselling placement at Whitehorse Primary School as part of the Monash University Masters of Counselling Program. Rena worked with a number of students across the school in 1:1 sessions to support students’ wellbeing, confidence and learning. She will be missed!

We will welcome a new student counsellor in February next year. Rowena has experience working as a secondary school educator and will be an asset to our wellbeing team in Semester 1 next year. Students can be referred to our student counselor through their classroom teacher. If you believe your child would benefit from counselling please speak with your child’s classroom teacher to determine whether this program would be appropriate for them.

Student Leadership

Well done to all our student leaders for their hard work, dedication and commitment to their roles across our school in 2025. They have all done such a fantastic job and should be proud of their achievements as well their tremendous growth in confidence, public speaking, interactions with our community and their organisational skills. I have loved working with this group of students each fortnight and am so proud to have had a small part in their leadership development.

I look forward to working with our 2026 student leaders next year!

Foundation Excursion

Thank you to the Foundation team and students for having me on their Excursion to Sea Life - Melbourne Aquarium. It was such a fun morning learning about marine life. The highlight was seeing the big sharks and rays and touching a sea star! The students were very well behaved and demonstrated our school value of respect throughout the day. Well done students and Foundation teachers for organising such a successful excursion!

Thank you for a wonderful year

As we come to the end of another school year, I just want to say thank you to our amazing community here at Whitehorse Primary School for all that you do to support our students’ learning and wellbeing.

I’m personally so grateful for the warm welcome, support, and kindness I’ve felt since starting in Term 2 from staff, students and families. It has been a really memorable and special year for me. I have loved working with our incredibly dedicated and hard working staff, interacting with and supporting students across the school and connecting with families and our wider community throughout the year. I am really looking forward to continuing in the role in 2026 and beyond.

Wishing you a safe, happy, and relaxing summer and a very Merry Christmas to all who celebrate.
