Principal's Message

Wominjeka from Justin Lania

Let's finish strong with the Wollert Way!

Dear Wollert PS Families,

As we approach the end of the term, we have several exciting opportunities at Wollert Primary School. This week, we conducted interviews for the 2026 Student Leadership positions, including School Captains, House Captains, and representatives for Wellbeing, The Arts, STEM and Environment. Students presented to a selection of staff about the type of leaders they aspire to be for the Wollert Primary School community. They shared inspirational quotes that resonate with them, such as John Quincy Adams' quote: "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader," and a personal favourite from Jacob Barbi: "Leaders are not always telling people what is right or wrong. Leaders are about leading by example."

We look forward to announcing our student leaders shortly under the theme 'Aspirations Without Limitations.' We also have several excursions taking place in Weeks 9 and 10, and we are excited to see our students attend each day as we continue to maintain outstanding attendance rates this year.

Please note that our School Joy Concert will occur on Wednesday, December 17, from 9:15am to 11:00am. We warmly invite all families to attend the concert to support and encourage their children as they perform. We will finish the school year on this day at 3:20pm, and families are welcome to join us at 2:30pm to say farewell to our Year 6 students in a whole school event.

Semester Two Reports

As we approach the end of semester two, your students will soon receive their semester reports. These reports will be available during the final week of the term and will provide student achievements in the key learning areas covered throughout the semester. The end-of-year report is an opportunity to celebrate all the learning successes and reflect on the accomplishments of 2025.

We encourage you to read the report together with your child to share in their learning journey and discuss the amazing experiences they've had during the year. Students will receive their reports on Tuesday, December 16, through Compass. You will be able to view these reports at 5:00pm on that day.

Class Placement for 2026

The opportunity for feedback has now closed as we are finalising classes for the upcoming step day on Tuesday, 9th of December.

Here are the criteria we consider when establishing classes for 2026:

  • The children's individual learning capabilities
  • The known social, emotional, and physical stages of the individual child
  • Friendship groupings, ensuring that each student is placed with at least one friend from their student friendship surveys
  • Balancing the number of males and females in each class
  • Addressing the needs of English as an additional language learners and other special needs
  • Creating classes with similar educational and behavioural profiles
  • Anticipating growth in class numbers
  • Ensuring compatibility of sub-groupings
  • Considering the students' ability to cope with change.

Step Up for Success as a Learner

We are thrilled about the recent Prep transition session that welcomed our new Foundation students for 2026. These young learners met their Foundation teachers and began making new connections.

 Important Community Information

As we finish the term, it's vital that students attend school each day and don't leave early. The last session of the day provides students with opportunities to reflect on their learning, especially regarding the inquiry topics we report on. Please be mindful of the challenge in allocating students in the playground when parents arrive during break times. If you have appointments, we kindly ask that you avoid collecting students during the following times:

- 11:10am - 11:50am

- 1:50pm - 2:20pm

Thank you to everyone for a great term thus far. As we wrap up in two weeks with exciting events for our students, please remind them to exemplify our school values: Be Kind, Be Brilliant, Be Curious, and Be Joyful, both onsite and offsite. I know we will continue to make you proud!

Please note that our first day of school in 2026 will be Thursday, 29th of January for Year 1-6 students, with our Foundation students starting on Monday, 2nd of February.

Kind regards,
