  • Ā

We have been zooming ahead with our learning in Grade 2. Read below to find out what we have been up to:

Ā

šŸ”¢ Mathematics

In Maths we have continued exploring worded questions that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We have worked hard on carefully reading worded questions, finding the important information, figuring out what is being asked and then calculating an answer. Students have particularly enjoyed creating their own worded questions for their peers to complete.

Ā

šŸ“– Literacy

Grade 2 continue to practice their phonograms daily, knowing these help us become better readers, spellers and writers. A recent test on all 70 learnt phonograms showed strong results and was a credit to the students' hard work.Ā Ā

In our writing sessions, we have been exploring persuasive texts. Students have loved our class debates and sharing their opinions. They have continued to learn how to improve their persuasive writing through the use of convincing arguments and examples.

In reading, we are so close to completing our class text, Matilda. Students have been so engaged in these sessions. Students have eagerly discussed plot twists and the characters involved. We cannot wait to hear how it ends and then enjoy comparing the movie to the text.

🌱 Integrated Studies: Then and Now

We are wrapping up our integrated unit called Then and Now. To complete the unit students are creating their own Time Warp plays highlighting the differences between ā€˜the olden days’ and nowadays. These plays consist of three scenes: me in the past, me now, and me in the future. This is a fun and wonderful way to finish up our unit.

Ā

šŸ“– Wellbeing

Our weekly Wellbeing sessions have continued with a focus on respect and consent.Ā  We have specifically explored respecting each other's bodies and personal space, using a variety of scenarios to explore the best way to respect our friends and family. There has been some wonderful discussion on how we can best respect others as well as ourselves.
