Year 4 & 5 Student Action Teams – Making a Positive Impact!

Our Year 4 and 5 Student Action Teams have been working incredibly hard throughout the term to implement a range of projects aimed at making our school an even better place. Their dedication, teamwork, and creativity have been fantastic to see, and they should feel extremely proud of all they have achieved so far. This week, the groups will take part in their final session with Kate Wilde, from The Human Development Workshop, alongside Miss Atkinson and Mrs Maxwell, where they will continue refining their actions before finishing the year strong.

What Has Each Team Been Working On?

Education Around Sensory Equipment

The Sensory Equipment Group has done an outstanding job designing posters to support the appropriate use of sensory equipment across the school. By dividing into two sub-groups, they created age-appropriate posters for both the junior and senior school, helping students understand how sensory tools can support focus and learning. These posters will be presented to classes and made available in every room for students to refer to whenever they need a reminder.

Kind On Purpose

The Kindness Group has developed a heart-warming “Kindness Bookmark” activity. They are hosting a lunchtime club where students can discuss the importance of kindness and the impact it has on others. Students will have the chance to create their own kindness bookmark, which will then be secretly spread throughout the school and library for others to discover - brightening someone’s day through a random act of kindness!

Equity on the Courts

This team has been working closely with Mr G to design a sports tournament for Year 3–6 girls who are interested in playing organised sport together. They are currently surveying students to find out which sport is most popular, and they will begin facilitating lunchtime sports clubs as we head toward the end of the year. What a great way to promote inclusion and confidence on the courts!

Litter in the Yard

The Litter in the Yard group has come up with a fun and motivating initiative: Litter Ninjas! These “ninjas” will be on the lookout for students who are doing the right thing by picking up rubbish or disposing of it correctly. Those spotted will be rewarded secretly for their positive actions. This creative idea is sure to end the year on a clean and positive note!

We are so proud of the leadership, enthusiasm, and community spirit shown by all students involved in the Action Teams. Their efforts are already having a positive impact on our school, and we look forward to seeing their projects continue to grow.
