Learning in Year 6

This term, our Year 6 students have been engaging in a variety of learning experiences that have stretched their thinking and creativity. In English, students began by writing an information report reflecting on their experiences in Year 2, focusing on the learning they remembered and the skills they developed. They then moved on to an explanation text about remote learning in Year 1, demonstrating their ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. Recently, the students explored free verse poetry, expressing their memories and emotions from their first year of school in Prep.

In Mathematics, Year 6 have been developing their skills in analysing and interpreting data. They have also been learning algebra, solving equations and applying logical reasoning to unknown quantities, and this week they have begun exploring capacity, measuring and comparing volumes in millilitres, litres, and beyond.

For Sport, the students are enjoying rotating through Table Tennis, Ultimate Frisbee and Finska/Kubb.

Overall, the students have shown curiosity, persistence, and creativity in all areas of their learning. It has been wonderful to see them apply their skills across different subjects while developing their voice as learners.
