Primary School
I would like to welcome everyone back to Term 2 and I hope that everyone enjoyed the change in routine that these past two weeks have offered. I would like to extend a special welcome to the new students and their families who started with us either throughout Term 1 or at the start of this term; Flynn, Hudson, Aviraj, Eliza, Curtis, Siya, Arabella and Clay. It has been great to welcome our students back on Tuesday morning and the teachers reported that the students have settled back into their classroom routines with ease. I have had the pleasure of talking to many of our students who happily shared their holiday adventures with me, many of which occurred overseas.
Message from the Primary Office
The case of mistaken bike identity
On Thursday afternoon a student took home the wrong bike (they are the same - make and model).
If the bike in the below images belongs to you, please contact the school via phone or email psreception@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au.
Sexuality Education Program Years 4-6
I would like to thank Cath McCallig from Sex Ed 4 Schools for working collaboratively with our students in Years 4-6 this week. As part of the PDHPE and Pastoral Care programs, Cath delivered engaging lessons and provided lots of new information on various topics.
The Year 4 program covered topics including Myself and My family, Body Parts and Functions. The Year 5/6 program topics included I’m Changing, I’m managing Puberty and What’s It all about.
Thanks to our great parent support at our information sessions. Cath shared some great resource suggestions which may be of interest to continue your ongoing discussions at home with your children.
Art Room Spotlight
Mrs Pedrana is thrilled to share the colourful creations from her Term 1 Tote Bag Lunchtime Co-Curricular Club! Over the past 5 weeks, enthusiastic Year 3 and Year 4 students joined forces to design their very own tote bags. From vibrant tie-dye patterns to intricate stencil designs and personalised touches with paint markers, each bag reflects the unique creativity of its maker. This Co-Curricular Club provided a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with like-minded peers who share a passion for all things art.
PAT Assessments
Students will undertake a series of tests based on their year level, ranging from Reading to Mathematics, Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation. The testing will occur throughout Week 2 in Primary classrooms. PAT evaluates students in Kindergarten to Year 10, assessing their knowledge, understanding, and abilities across various domains. They aid in tracking students' progress over time. The assessments identify students' capabilities and then provide challenges at an appropriate level to facilitate effective learning. Each assessment is conducted in less than 50 minutes through ACER’s secure online platform.
