Learning & Teaching

Schools are vibrant and busy places with lots of routines and procedures to provide structure, so everything can run as smoothly as possible. In this edition of  the Learning & Teaching tab we have a little 'behind the scenes' snippet of a routine we have in place that builds responsibility and independence in our students.

Class Office Tubs

At STM each class has an office tub that is used to communicate daily between the office and classroom. Every morning before 9.00 am each class delivers their tub to the staffroom containing any monies, bus forms, notices, or any other correspondence. The tubs are cleared by office administration and collected after 2:30 pm each day with any communication or notices that need to go home that night.

Students build responsibility and independence by;

  • being given the class job of delivering and collecting the tub each day
  • remembering if they have any notices (they may need a gentle from home to begin)
  • growing in independence as they are repsonsible for putting their notices, etc., in the office tub when they arrive at school
  • remembering and giving mum, dad or guardians any notices or forms they have received from teachers or the school
  • placing any notices or forms from home in their satchel or school bag ready for the next school day

It is a great idea to get into the routine of placing any notices or money that your child needs to put into their class tub in their maroon satchel or the front pocket of their school bag. Please ensure that any money sent to the office has the student's name, class, amount and what the money is for, clearly marked on the envelope.

I wish you all a wonderful Easter and a relaxing and restful holiday period,
