Independence Centre

Highlight

This week in the Independence Centre the students were able to put weeks of practice into play when participating in the Summer Sports Gala day! Read about four students from 3/4RM share a part of their day!

I really enjoyed European Handball because I had two chances to be the goalie and block the ball. It is a similar sport to basketball and netball because you can throw and bounce the ball as well as pass to your team - Chloe 3/4RM

In tennis I had lots of fun playing against lots of different schools with different skills. I had to show perseverance when I was losing by 10 pts so I stepped up my game and got 20 more pts and won! - Sahil J 3/4RM

In Rounders I enjoyed pitching because I did a good job for our team. I also caught the ball to get the last person out! Although we lost the game, the team and I had an awesome  experience and I showed encouragement towards my peers. - Maya L 3/4RM

We versed different schools playing newcombe where you have to throw the ball to your team and get it over the net so the other team can catch it and if we can’t catch it then it’s our point and we start again! The character strengths I showed yesterday was to work as a team (teamwork) and show perseverance and respect to all players because we shook hands at the end and said “good game” - Vidya 3/4RM

INDEPENDENCE CENTRE GUIDED INQUIRY SHOWCASE

Unit: Food Makes The World Go Round

Throughout Term 1, students in the Independence Centre have been exploring how food is an important part of cultural heritage, as well as national and personal identity. We discussed how food brings loved ones together for special occasions and identified why certain dishes are significant or even sentimental to us. We’ve discovered that food allows us to experience new connections, flavours, and textures! Which is what our 3/4 Food Blog is all about. Please scan the QR code to see the amazing work the 3/4 students have completed. On the blog, you will find delicious recipes to make at home, information reports, raving food reviews, blog posts and persuasive advertisements. What will be your next food adventure?

Thanks to Isaac D and Sahil J for designing the QR codes for the 3/4 Food Blog.
