Student Enrichment

P - 12

In Term 1, Kyabram P-12 College has been buzzing with student enrichment activities.

We are thrilled to share the exciting opportunities we have offered our students to engage outside of the traditional classroom setting.

P - 6

Our lunchtime activities have been a hit, with options like Uno challenge, gardening, board games, chalk art and outdoor games. These activities have provided students with fun and engaging ways to spend their break times.

We were excited to see the introduction of our new worm farm and compost bins, promoting sustainability and environmental awareness within our school community. Additionally, a drawing competition was held, and we proudly displayed the winning artwork by Indi and Chase on the cage.

Our dedicated Enviro Warriors had the opportunity to participate in a Bunnings workshop where they planted new vegetables and fruits in the sensory garden, fostering a hands-on learning experience about gardening and sustainability.

Students in Year 3 to 6 had the privilege of attending a writing workshop session with Martine Murray, a renowned author. During this session, students learned valuable insights on how to write like an author, enhancing their creative writing skills.

In addition to these enriching activities, our students actively participated in events such as Ride2School Day, P - 6 buddies, and the Easter Parade.

Furthermore, we were honoured to welcome Sam Birrell, who presented certificates to our outstanding school leaders including vice-captains, house captains, music leaders, sports leaders, and arts leaders.

7 - 12

In the Years 7-12 space we have introduced new engaging lunchtime activities, such as a thrilling table tennis match between teachers and students. The inaugural table tennis student vs teacher competition saw Tony Greely take out the competition and as a result the winners cup is named in his honour.

Students have been involved in Gators clinics, the gym has been open as well as the library that provides a range of opportunities for the students to participate in.

We appointed new House Captains spanning from Years 7 -12. In addition to this, every form has a captain to allow for student voice across the school. Our student leaders meet with staff on a fortnightly basis to discuss the happenings of the school.

Extra-curricular activities and competitions are available for students to compete in including a range of Arts Competitions through JMC Academy. These include Songwriting, Drama and Painting competitions.

The Campaspe Shire Council are launching their Youth Action Group. As part of the Youth Action Group, students can develop their leadership and advocacy skills and give them the chance to represent the voices of young people within the council.

Term 1 saw the beginning of the 2024 Footy Tipping Competition. Staff and Year 7-12 students, complete their tips each week to see who is on top after each round.

Term 1 also saw the election of the college student leaders. These leaders meet on a regular basis to share student voice and help create and run activities for students.
