Around the Junior School
Harmony Day
On Thursday 21 March, students in the Junior School engaged in a range of activities to recognise and celebrate Harmony Day.
The Junior School SRC leaders as well as the Senior School leadership team combined forces to create some fun lunch time games and a whole school activity. Every student in the school wrote a message, fact or drew a picture that identified the vast differences of cultures even amongst the Kinross Wolaroi School community.
Allan used his drone to take some wonderful photos and videos of the hands, students and staff.
Students wore a touch of orange to recognise Harmony Day and participated in some classroom activities with their teachers. To top off a fabulous Harmony Day, students all received a delicious orange icy pole!
It was warming to see the leadership team from the Senior School engage with students from the Junior School.
The SRC students did a fabulous job in educating and organising such an engaging Harmony Day for students.
Pre-K's Lake Excursion
Monday 25 March was Pre-Kinder’s excursion to Lake Canobolas. The children had such a lovely time filling their collecting bags, playing on the equipment and even walking the whole way around the lake. The weather was perfect for a great day out.
Year 5 Geography
This term in Geography, Year 5 have been looking at environments. Within this unit, students have explored how humans have impacted environments in both positive and negative ways. They have also looked at natural disasters and how they can have social, economic and environmental effects.
Year 5 were so fortunate to hear from Mrs Kate Strahorn, who presented to the grade on the 2022 Molong flood disaster. Students asked many insightful questions and learned how the catastrophic event damaged the Molong environment, including infrastructure such as sporting facilities, buildings and shop fronts.
Mrs Seedsman and Miss Hazelton are excited to see the newspaper article that each student will develop over the next week as their final assessment task.
