Reading
CURRICULUM FOCUS
This week in Reading we have been determining the importance of information we read in books.
VOCABULARY
Determine: decide the important and main ideas in the text.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Ask your child to read one of their dot books or library book and discuss the important and main ideas in the text. The important parts should include information about the characters, setting, problem and solution.
For example, a character called Charlie is walking along the beach is important as it is the setting. However, Charlie liking lollies is not important.
