Sun Protection

In accordance with the recommendation from the Cancer Council of Tasmania, the College’s sun protection measures commence from the beginning of September until the end of the school year, when UV Index levels reach 3 and above.

Daily sun protection times, which are published in the Daily News, are a forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology for the time of day that UV levels are forecast to reach three or above. At these levels, sun protection is recommended for all skin types. ( www.sunsmart.com.au ).

Students must wear the College bucket hat or College boater which protect the face, neck and ears. Students without a sun-safe hat must remain in the shade. If your son or daughter has misplaced or grown out of their College bucket hat since they were last used in April, the Uniform Shop is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. Orders can also be placed via the Qkr app and items will be delivered to Student Services.

Students are encouraged to bring to school and apply their own sunscreen. The use of broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30 or higher sunscreen is encouraged whenever the UV index is predicted to be above 3.
