STAFF PROFILE
Name: Louisa Blamires
Role: Learning Specialist
Why did you want to become a teacher?
I love working with people and learning continuously. I became a teacher because I just love learning different ways to do things and engaging with people.
How long have you been at Chilwell Primary School for?
12 years
Are you Part time or Full time?
Full time
What is your favourite thing about working at Chilwell?
My favourite thing about Chilwell is the people (students, teachers and families). Everyone is so welcoming, kind and respectful and has the best interests of all students at heart.
If you could describe Chilwell in 3 words, what would they be?
Fun, Engaging, Purposeful
What legacy do you hope to leave with the children you teach?
I hope that the children I teach know that we all make important contributions to the community, we all have different strengths and areas of expertise. I hope that they value learning as a continuous lifelong process and that are confident in understanding that mistakes are part of learning.
If you had all the parents of your current students in the room with you, what would you like to say to them about their child's time with you?
That I have valued their child’s contribution to our class and that they have all taught me something about the teacher I want to be.
How do you measure success in terms of your teaching / your time with the students?
I measure success with students in their engagement with their learning and their confidence to make attempts and to accept a challenge. I feel I am successful when students come to me with questions, wonderings and challenging ideas that make me think.
Is there something about you that your students would be surprised to know? (Hidden talent? a previous job?)
I have travelled to every continent except Antarctica (Antarctica is on the list – I’m saving for it!)
