Principal's News

Dear Families & Friends,
What an amazing Term it has been! There has been so much acvhieved in learning across all year levels, in classrooms as well as excursions, incursions, sports days and whole school celebrations. It is no wonder the term seems to have just flown by so quickly. I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thankyou to all our parents and carers for the support you have given throughout the term, whether it has been, here at school assiting in classrooms, helping on excursions, attending assemblies or at home in organizing children to be ready for school each day, in costumes for dress up days or completing Home Learning together. This home school partnership is an essential element in what makes school and learning successful for each of our children. No doubt these holidays will provide time for our children to rest, play and experience some quieter family time and so I wish each of them a safe and happy holiday break. For any families travelling, we wish you safe travels and wonderful experiences.
Farewells
As you may also be aware, we will again farewell Ms Ellen as she sets off on further exciting travels overseas. It was great to have her back, even just for this short time. Ms Ellen also had the chance to work in classrooms as an LSO which she tells me she has loved. (Fingers crossed, when she returns we may just see her again.)
Mr W will also be moving on at the end of term to explore new opportunities, most likely in the secondary school setting. We thank Andrew for the great work he has done with so many students at Trinity and wish him all the best as he completes his teacher training and explores new opportunities in education.
Finally a very special farewell to Ms Renee. After dedicating over six years to the children at Trinity Ms Renee will be finishing her time with us on Friday. Ms Renee will be moving to Geelong where she has recently purchased a new house and found a new job at a Catholic Primary School much closer to her new home. We thank her for all she has given in her time at Trinity and wish her happiness and success for the future.

Athletics Day SAVE THE DATE!
This year Trinity is having its first Full School Athletics Carnival. All the school will be catching buses to Collingwood Athletics Track on Heidelberg Rd. The carnival will be in Week 3 on Thursday 30th July. This will be a huge event for our school and we will need as much help as possible from parents and friends. So if you can come along and help out I would love to know, so please email me. No experience is necessary but if you do have any particular expertise you can help with, please let me know.
There will be more information next term and permission forms to fill out.
Have a great break, and get practising!
Kind Regards
Rachel McLeary
Sustainability - Resource Smart Schools
Congratulations to Ms Belinda and our Sustainability Team who have been working incredibly hard to promote Sustainability at Trinity. This huge effort has resulted in us receiving our first ResourceSmart star. See our letter below from Sustainability Victoria.
Home Learning Review
Thank you again to the many parents who have completed the Home Learning Review form. This feedback is greatly appreciated and really does help us shape changes and improvements in our Home Learning Policy. As you can imagine, there is great variety in what parents want or value, but we will always endeavour to keep your suggestions and comments in mind as we work in this area.
Key findings: (42 Responses)
- 83% of parents believe Home Learning is very valuable for their child's education, with almost all others viewing it as somewhat valuable.
- The most highly valued Home Learning activities were:
- Reading practice
- Maths practice
- Writing activities
- Most parents believe children should spend 15–30 minutes per night on Home Learning.
- 55% of parents felt the current expectations are about right, while 40% felt there is too little and only 5% felt there is too much.
- Home Learning appears to have a limited negative impact on families, with 71% reporting it never causes stress or conflict at home and only one respondent indicating it often does.
Overall conclusion:
Parents generally value Home Learning, particularly reading, writing and maths practice. Most families are comfortable with the current approach and time commitment, although some would like to see slightly more Home Learning provided.
