The Year 9 Design and Technology students have spent the past nineteen weeks immersed in an exciting engineering challenge: designing, manufacturing, and racing their own CO₂-powered dragsters.

Across two Year 9 classes, students transformed a simple piece of balsa wood into a high-speed racing machine. The project required students to follow the complete design and manufacturing process, from initial sketches and design concepts through to cutting, shaping, sanding, painting, and final assembly. Once completed, each car was fitted with wheels and a CO₂ cylinder, which acts as a jet-propulsion motor during racing.

To be eligible for the State Championships, each dragster must meet a strict set of design and construction specifications. Cars that do not comply with the championship rules can still compete in the popular "Outlaw Class," a category in which Trinity College achieved great success by winning the State Title last year.

The standard of Design and workmanship displayed by our Year 9 students has been outstanding.

On Wednesday night, three teams of Year 10 Mock Trial students competed in their final round at the Supreme Court. All students who participated performed exceptionally well, resulting in an outstanding three wins from three trials.

A special thank you goes to Mr Chris Allanson for his dedication in teaching and mentoring the Mock Trial students throughout the semester. Congratulations also to the barristers, solicitors, witnesses, and judges' associates, whose thorough preparation and professionalism were evident in their final-round performances.

Well done to all involved on a successful and rewarding Mock Trial season.

Students recently represented Trinity College with distinction at the Model United Nations (MUN) competition held at the University of Western Australia. Competing as the delegation of China, our team entered the event as first-time participants, demonstrating remarkable commitment, resilience, and enthusiasm throughout the evening.

Despite being among the youngest competitors and facing predominantly Year 11 students from across the PSA, our delegates rose to the challenge impressively. They engaged in rigorous debate, negotiated resolutions, and responded thoughtfully to complex global issues, all while maintaining the diplomatic poise expected in a formal international forum.

The experience provided students with valuable insight into global politics, public speaking, and collaborative problem-solving. Through their preparation and participation, they developed a deeper understanding of international relations and the importance of respectful, evidence-based discussion.

The team conducted themselves with pride, showing maturity and confidence beyond their years. Their willingness to step outside their comfort zone and compete against more experienced students is a testament to their dedication.

2026 Athletics Carnival

A Day of Competition, Community and Record-Breaking Performances

The 2026 TC Athletics Carnival was held on Monday 22nd June, bringing together students from across the College for a fantastic day of competition, teamwork and school spirit.

The day started with a light touch of rain, but this did not dampen the enthusiasm of our athletes. As the events progressed, the clouds cleared and we were treated to a beautiful sunny afternoon, creating perfect conditions for students to showcase their skills and determination.

Throughout the day, students competed across a range of track and field events, demonstrating outstanding commitment, sportsmanship and resilience. The atmosphere was filled with encouragement as students supported their peers, and embraced the opportunity to represent themselves for selection into the college squad.

A highlight of the carnival was the number of College records broken, with several athletes producing exceptional performances that will now become part of TC Athletics history. These achievements reflect the dedication, training and positive mindset of our students.

A huge thank you goes to all staff, student officials, volunteers and supporters who helped make the carnival a success. The smooth running of events and the positive energy throughout the day showcased the strength of our College community.

With the Term 3 athletics season approaching, students are encouraged to continue building on their carnival performances. The Term 3 training schedule will provide opportunities for students of all abilities to develop their skills, prepare for upcoming competitions and continue improving their fitness. Training sessions will focus on technique, speed, endurance, strength and event-specific skills.

Whether students are experienced athletes or new to athletics, everyone is welcome to be involved. We look forward to seeing our athletes continue to grow, challenge themselves and represent TC with pride throughout the season.
