Scotsburn Sleepover
What a great success the sleepover was! This event is always a huge highlight on the Scotsburn calendar with this year being no exception. Students arrived back at the campus at 6:30pm, and set their beds up in SC1 and SC2. After a short free play, we all met on the oval for some tabloid relay races, with some yummy prizes for motivation!
After that, we got ourselves in our pyjamas and got comfy for our night movie, including a hot chocolate and some popcorn. It was great to see some families and siblings stay for the movie, including some ex-Scotsburn students. We were blessed with some great weather, which was very lucky!
After a big sleep, we packed up our beds and enjoyed a breakfast spread, including Mrs Murphy’s famous homemade pancakes! After breakfast we enjoyed some rotation activities including biscuit decorating and team building games. We even had the Buninyong Community Playgroup in for some messy Halloween fun!
As always, events like this require a lot of planning and assistance. Special thank you to Mr Morgan for organising such a fun sleepover - Also, a big thank you to Mrs Morgan (who volunteered her time and returned to the Buninyong campus on Friday to teach), as well as special appearances from Mr Conlan and Mrs Anderson. Ms Connor for organising all of the yummy food for us to eat. Raquel even volunteered a large amount of time on Thursday night, which we all so much appreciated. Finally, a huge thank you to Vanessa Munro, who again volunteered to sleep overnight. We hope you had a good rest when you got home! A wonderful team effort and I’m sure all of you will agree the kids had a lot of fun.
SC1 Learning Snapshot
Week 5 already!
This term is flying by, as always, a lot of great learning is happening in SC1. Ms Connor and Mrs Murphy have been busy with lots of assessment and we are so thrilled with the progress that everyone has made this semester.
Our P - 2 sports day is coming up in a couple of weeks. It would be a good idea to make sure you have a sports coloured t-shirt to wear on the day. It is run at the BPS oval. Families are welcome to attend.
In Writing, we have been creating persuasive text. The children have written a very convincing letter to Mr Morgan about the installation of a pool at the campus as well as having class pets. I’m sure you are having a good think about these projects Mr Morgan.
In Maths, we are continuing our unit of fractions. We have learnt fractions of an amount of time this week. (See pictures above of Gracie and Scarlett dividing fractions of time).
Aelwen is creating her own nature inspired art using items from the garden as part of the homework club.
As always, we have lots happening throughout the term so please reach out if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Chelsea and Beth
SC2 Learning Snapshot
Can you believe we are halfway through Term 4 already??!! SC2 over the past week have been busy working through some assessment pieces and assessment tasks. It has been great to see all students approach these tasks with enthusiasm and demonstrate their learning and growth.
This week we have also been beginning to draft some very important application letters. Our Grade 3-5 students have been putting together letters for both 2026 Scholarships as well as applications for 2026 Scotsburn roles. Our Grade 5s are also specifically working on their campus leader applications.
Whilst this has been happening, our Grade 6 students have been working on a few end of year tasks. They have been drafting written pieces for the Graduation booklet as well as entering the Graduation booklet front cover competition.
Have another awesome week,
Jarrod and Liz
Michiyo Sensei
Last week we welcomed Michiyo Sensei to Scotsburn, and it’s hard to tell who was more excited- Michiyo or the students? Michiyo is a retired school teacher from Japan, who is here for four weeks on an internship to develop her English skills. She was very impressed with the warm welcome provided by our campus, complete with personalised cards for Michiyo and the students performing individual self-introductions for her. Michiyo gave us a presentation about herself and Japan, and then(together with our lovely Noriko Sensei) helped all of our students into yukata, an informal style of kimono. Our students loved this cultural experience and are looking forward to welcoming Michiyo Sensei back in week 7! (Please see the forthcoming school magazine for more photos!)
Scotsburn Assembly this Friday
This Friday we will have our next Scotsburn assembly, in the shed at 3:00pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
Buninyong Community Playgroup Christmas Wonderland
We have some exciting news to add to our end of year events at Scotsburn! The Buninyong Community Playgroup have organised another Christmas Wonderland event, however this time we have planned it for Friday 12 December, as part of a regular school day in Week 10. This will allow our students and families to be involved in the day.

On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.
