Year 10 Work Experience
I am excited to share information about the upcoming 2026 Year 10 Work Experience Program.
Key Dates
(This is a 4 day week due to the King’s Birthday public holiday on Monday 8 June.)
We are sharing this information early to encourage students to begin looking for placements as soon as possible. Work experience opportunities can be highly
competitive—particularly in popular fields such as medical, legal, veterinary, photography, and media industries. Securing a placement early will give students more choice and a better chance of finding a suitable position.
Program Objectives and Recommendations
Students are encouraged to seek placements in career areas that align with their interests. This experience provides valuable insight into potential career pathways and helps students make informed decisions about their future.
To empower students, we recommend that each student take responsibility for contacting employers directly to secure their placement. Students will also need to arrange their own travel to and from the workplace—ideally using public transport where possible to foster independence, or with the support of family.
Paperwork and Resources

Forms required are:
To support students in this process, all required forms and resources can be found on the Cheltenham Careers website, accessible via the Student Portal under the Workplace Learning tab [select Work Experience].

The Value of Work Experience
At Cheltenham Secondary College, we view work experience as an important opportunity for students to explore career interests, develop independence, and gain confidence in real-world settings. It allows students to better understand workplace expectations and can help guide future study and career choices.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the program, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Warm regards,
