Late stay/sleepover
Last Thursday afternoon, the F/1/2s had their much-anticipated Late Stay and Sleepover! The afternoon began with some pirate punch, jelly cups, and a fruit platter, before students headed in to the gallery to make and decorate a pirate hat. Then it was time for some pirate games – students had to ‘walk the plank’ and ‘hide the cannonball’. Our Foundation students headed home at 5:00, then the Grade 1/2s had a ‘pirate disco’, dancing to some sea-shanties. Next, it was time to follow some clues in a treasure hunt around the school, and our little pirates were rewarded for their clever problem solving with some golden (chocolate!) coins. For dinner, Mr Kemp cooked up a storm of fish, nuggets and chips. Staff were very impressed by some helpful kids doing the dishes! After dinner, the Grade 1 students went home and the Grade 2s set up their mattresses and sleeping bags on the floor of their classroom. We watched a pirate movie then settled down for the night. In the morning, we enjoyed toast and rice bubbles for breakfast in our PJs, packed away our beds and got ready for the school day. We’re sure some tired little pirates needed the long weekend to recharge! Miss D and Lizzie would like to thank Bec, Jac, Miss Rees and Mr Kemp for helping on the night, and all the F/1/2 students for joining in the fun.
Students Write-ups
Yesterday the F–2 students had a late stay and sleepover at Charlton College to experience sleeping over. First, we played on the playground, we played tiggy. Secondly, we ate fruit like watermelon, strawberries, and oranges. Then we had jelly with an orange on top. After that, we made a paper pirate hat.
Next, we played Escape the Cannon Ball Bomb, and after that we played a fun game called Walk the Plank. Once we finished, the Preps went home, and our final game was Here Comes the Captain. Afterwards, we had a disco and played Bobs and Statues.
Just after that, we went on a treasure hunt. The teams were the Year 2 boys, the Year 2 girls, and all the Year 1s together on a team. Then we had tea. We ate dino nuggets, fish fingers, and chips, and had ice cream for dessert.
After dinner, we put mats on the floor and got our sleeping bags and mattresses if we had one. Before bed, we watched a movie called Pirates! Band of Misfits. After the movie, we brushed our teeth and went to sleep.
In the morning, for breakfast, we had toast or Rice Bubbles and orange juice to drink. Then we packed away our sleeping mats and bags and changed into our casual clothes for Wear What Makes You Happy Day. We had a great time at the late stay and sleepover!
