Cultural Immersion

Yaama ngindaay-uu,
(Hello to you all),
What a great year we’ve had so far. Not long now until the holidays and there will be lots of time to come together, see family and refresh ourselves.
We have been working hard in class to weave something nice to wear for presentation and singing in Gamilaraay.
Week four Chastity and myself went to Dubbo for Wii Gaay. There we met Uncle Lewis who is our favourite didgeridoo player to listen to in class. He took us on country at Terra-Mun-Gah where he grew up and to Wilay Gunya gardens to see the Cobra St scarred trees.
The second on country experience was at Dubbo zoo where we learnt about rock, sand, tree, an important part of Wiradjuri culture and Wiradjuri kinship.
The workshops taught setup, sequence, snip, connect, storyboards, voice overs, audio, titles and credits. This helped pull the interview with our Elders together to create a memorable video that will be preserved forever.
Hopefully we will get some time over the next couple of weeks to watch the interview together as a school.
Baayandhu, Sam Rhodes
(See you soon)
