CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Reading we are learning to analyse a text.

We can identify and discuss how the text is related to the title. We can identify and discuss connections between the pictures and words. 

VOCABULARY

Analysing a text: means that we are going to look at a text in detail, to help us understand more about the text and to help us form an opinion on the text.  

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

You can get your child to choose a book (preferably fiction) from their satchel/ or a book at home  or public library. 

Let them read the book and then engage in a discussion around what your child thought of the book.  After reading the title, what could the story be about?  After reading, does it match the title? Do the pictures match the story? 

Then,  they can have a go at drawing and creating their own book where title and pictures match. Use scrap paper or technology.
