TERM 4 WEEK 1 & 2

CLASSROOM NEWS

It’s hard to believe we are at the end of our second week of Term 4 already. Our first two weeks have been very settled. It’s been lovely to see our children keen to get outside and play together  in the sunshine at recess times.  LITERACY: We have revised words that contain the sounds that make an ‘i’ sound:  igh, ie, _y, i_e. For example, pie, light, sky and five. We have also extended our knowledge of codes that make a long ‘e’ sound, such as sheep, concrete, Molly, leaf, receive, eighty, she and monkey.

WRITING: Our genre this term is procedural text. We have started looking at the features of this genre such as, a title, materials/what you need list, a set of instructions and accompanying diagrams. This is linking beautifully to our ‘Show & Tell’.

MATHS: We have been revisiting place value and exploring the big idea that ‘ten of these is one of those’ - 10 ones = 1 ten, 10 tens = 1 hundred etc. Daily bundling of popsticks into groups of ten to help us understand this concept has been lots of fun!

INQUIRY: Our Term 4 topic is: What is our connection to Country and Place? We were lucky to have a big box of indigenous artifacts from the Melbourne Museum to explore and discuss.

WELLBEING: What is fair play? What does it look like and sound like? Why are agreed rules important when we play games?
