Monday 4th November is a Curriculum Day for HEPS students. There will be no classes running but Team Kids will be operating as normal.
We would like to inform you that our school will be undergoing a review later this term. This process is important for ensuring that we continue to provide the best possible education for our students. All government schools participate in reviews every four years which analyse our achievement with respect to the goals we set for ourselves. We look forward to the opportunity of sharing our successes in curriculum and wellbeing with the independent panel conducting our review.
An important part of the review is collecting information and opinions from parents. The review panel would like to speak to a group of parents about HEPS and how they believe the school is tracking. If you would like to be part of a small focus group at 3PM on Wednesday 13th November, please email the school at heathmont.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au
Last week’s school production of 'Robin and The Sherwood Hoodies' was a spectacular success, showcasing the students' enthusiasm and talents. We were delighted at the students' wonderful performances, combined with their amazing acting and the creative props they crafted, which truly brought the story to life. We would like to extend a special thank you to Emma (Music Teacher), Brian (Art Teacher) and her wonderful production team for their dedication and hard work in organizing the show.
Over the past couple of years we have focused strongly on better communication between the school and the wider HEPS community. Below are the ways in which we communicate with parents. As you can see there are multiple platforms, each with its own purpose.
Communication at HEPS
We value our home-school partnership with our HEPS community, and our Education Subcommittee thought it would be worthwhile to outline the types of communication we have in place at HEPS and the purpose of each. Communication at HEPS and within a school is multifaceted, and we aim to provide the most up-to-date information to you as parents so that we can all support learning and wellbeing at HEPS.
Compass
Compass is used to notify parents and carers of excursions, school visits, and camps. It is also a place to pay and consent for school activities and for parents to notify the school of any absences.
HEPS Newsletter
Our HEPS newsletter provides information about the school's overall operation. This includes a Principal report, up-and-coming events, and important dates. The newsletter also provides learning and well-being updates from each level, including specialists, parent information education session opportunities, assembly timetables, and parent association reports.
WhatsApp level groups
Each level has a WhatsApp group. Each group has a parent representative who communicates with teachers regularly and posts relevant information at each year's level. Parents can ask questions if they are unsure about school events in this group, and they will be answered by either the parent representative or another parent within the group.
We use Facebook to communicate positive learning and well-being to the HEPS community. Photos and information about events such as movie nights, Christmas concerts, level excursions, and Inquiry showcases are shared. Our Facebook group is closed to the broader public, and members need to be current parents of HEPS. Several staff members monitor this group.
Congratulations to our mixed Hoop Time Basketball team who recently participated in the Regional finals. They progressed to the grand final which was an almighty effort. Unfortunately, they did lose the grand final but we are so proud of them. Well done!
Well done to our Volleyball Division team who have progressed to the Regional level after winning their game last Friday. We wish them all the best in competing again some of the best teams in our Region next Tuesday.
Tomorrow is World Teacher’s Day. World Teachers' Day is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the incredible work teachers do every day, especially at HEPS. By celebrating this day and showing our appreciation, we can help create a supportive and encouraging environment that allows teachers to thrive and continue making a positive impact on our children's lives.
