Sunday's Gospel - 29th Sunday in Ordinary time
Gospel Reading - Mark 10: 35-45
"Let one of us sit at your right and the other on your left at your time of Glory".
James and John asked if they could sit near Jesus at the time of Jesus' glory, and Jesus made it clear that this was up to God to decide. Jesus prompted his disciples into answering just how much they really did love to serve? Jesus reminded them that we serve not to gain position for ourselves, but instead to purely help others. Jesus asked the disciples if they were joyful when they serve others. Jesus' life on earth was filled with acts of service such as ministering to his people, healing and listening. Even to the very last end he gave us his life for us as an act of love.
I wonder how have we extended our help to others, purely for their benefit, and not for our own?
Year 3 Parent and Student Reconciliation Evening
Our Reconciliation adult formation and information evening was well attended on Wednesday evening. The students were actively involved in deepening their understanding of 'The Prodigal Son' whilst our parents shared the importance of forgiveness with Father Dispin. We all 'miss the mark' in our lives at times and the word 'Reconcile' is so relevant as we are work towards making things right. Every time we work to make things right, as Catholics we know that we can ask God for help.
