Student-Free Day on Monday
We are fully booked for the Professional Practice Day on Monday 4 November when students are not attending school. Enrolments are now closed.
Students booked in for care on Monday are to bring their hat, sunscreen, lunch, morning and afternoon tea. The children will only be allowed to go outside with sun protection.
Policy Review
This month the OSHC program is reviewing the following policies: sun protection, collection and delivery of children, child safe- responding obligations and procedures, excursion and payment. These policies are displayed at the Hall entrance. The program is happy to receive any feedback in relation to these policies.
If your child has a medical management plan can you please ensure you provide the program with an updated plan for 2025. These ASCIA plans will need to be signed and dated by a doctor.
Summer Vacation Care
The OSHC program will provide care for children enrolled in the program from 7am to 6pm from Monday 20 January to Friday 24 January 2025. This is the week prior to the return to school for the 2025 school year. Booking essential. Places are booked quickly for this vacation care program, so don’t delay when notified that bookings are open if care is required.
ACECQA Rating
Last term our OSHC program was advised by the Department of Education that an Assessment and Rating process would be completed.
This is an intensive procedure which involved an interview and an inspection of the service by the Department of Education.
The program is graded in its effectiveness to implement and comply with:
- The Education and Care Services National Law Act
- The Education and Care National Regulations
- The Framework for School Aged Children
- The Early Learning Years Framework
- The ACECQA National Quality Standards
Mr Perini and I were interviewed by a Department Officer and several days later they visited the program for an Aftercare session.
I am pleased to announce the program was rated “Exceeding”.
This rating can only be achieved with the support of many people. First of all, I would like to thank the program staff: Helen Croft, Abbey Williams, Alice Richards, Mat Caruana, Rita Kamoutsis, Sue Caruana, Jean Elliott, Jess Le and Georgia Mae Mahan. Their time and effort often goes unheralded, but it is such a vital cog of the programs development. They have been highly committed to ensuring the program is always providing the highest quality care in a warm, caring and nurturing environment. They are exceptional people who strive to keep extending the program. They have also been a huge support for myself. I am very grateful to have such an outstanding staff. I am really proud of their efforts.
The school is very fortunate to have such a high calibre of staff committed to the OSHC program. Thank you to Mr Perini who is a strong advocate of the program. His resolute support has been essential for the program to flourish. He is always on hand to provide insightful advice that propels the program in a positive direction. Mr Perini is always there to reinforce to the staff and myself the great program we offer to the community.
Thank you to Mrs McCann whose support for the program and its operations has been essential in its elevation to exceeding. She has often given up her time to help with the purchasing of resources that reflect the expectations stipulated by The Framework for School Aged Children as well as providing ongoing administrative support.
Thank you to Con and Paula Papanicolaou from Essex Heights Juniors whose support has been a vital ingredient in the program’s rating. They have advised the program on its operations and staff have visited their centre to get ideas and insights to bring back to our service. They have provided the necessary assistance for the program’s development.
I would also like to thank the School Council and the Management Committee for their support of the program. Thank you to Jen Bittner who consistently provides the staff and myself with the reassurance that we are doing a good job.
Thank you to the outstanding EHPS community for their support of the program. The parents and children are the reason why we try so hard to provide a quality program.
Again, thank you to all the people associated with the program for your support in helping us attain an Exceeding rating.
