Secondary News
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we step into our last school term for the year, we want to extend a warm welcome back to all our students and families to what is bound to be a term filled with exciting opportunities for growth, learning and community building.
We have a fantastic lineup of activities, projects and events planned to inspire curiosity and foster a love of learning. We have our Semester two Thanksgiving Service, Christmas celebrations, Remembrance Day, school excursions, our annual Art's Festival and more.
We farewelled our Year 12’s in the official Graduation ceremony in week 2, which was a wonderful school community event to join together and celebrate the many achievements and memories we have spent with our Year 12 students, some of whom have been a student at the College since their Foundation years. We would like to thank all the families and special friends of our Year 12 cohort who came along to make this day a very memorable one for them. The Year 12’s are now enjoying time away from the College and their formal classes as they study to prepare for their final exams. The staff wish our Year 12 students all the best of luck with their upcoming exams which commence in the coming weeks. As always, we couldn’t enjoy such fabulous events such as this without all the hard work of our wonderful Mrs Nina Matar and our administration team, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to organise the event and ensure it runs smoothly.
Yesterday, the whole school participated in celebrating United Nations Day. It was wonderful to see a number of Secondary students in cultural dress or colours. The flag ceremony at the beginning of the day gave us a great insight into the large number of cultures represented in our College community. The Year 7 - 10 students had an amazing opportunity to participate in an African drumming workshop in the afternoon. It was great to see the students and staff enthusiastically participating.

German Day
This year we had the German Day on the 9th October. It was the second day back for the students and we wanted to start them off on a high note.
After months of preparing for the events faculty staff were excited to present them all to the students.
The day run on rotation, where different classes participated in a different event each period.
The objective of the day was to give our students a taste of German culture.
Probably only the Lederhosen and the Dirndl (German traditional clothes) are more German culture than Currywurst (curried sausage, German style). While some of the staff dressed in traditional attire, every student got an opportunity to prepare and enjoy some currywurst.
Students also participated in a scavenger hunt around the school. They also learned the history of the Berlin Wall and the artwork that adorned it. Students then got an opportunity to draw a paining they could have drawn on a wall.
Another activity was watching video clips to learn about culture and get general knowledge about Germany.
The most popular activity was the board games session with Frau Miller. Students had so much fun, they were even eager to play the games in their free time over lunch!
Mr. Schultz also really shone on the day. He played German music on accordion at lunch time and provided so much entertainment to the audience.
We thank all the people who made any contribution to making German Day a success and look forward to German day 2025.
