Hello Everyone,
We have had an action packed term, with many more great events to come to finish out our school year.
STEM Showcase
Thank you to our families who were able to attend the STEM Showcase & BBQ. Earlier this year Amy Lockwood was successful in gaining a grant from Snowy Hydro to support the purchasing of Lego Education Kits to be use in STEM classes with students across all year levels. This has been a great source of engagement and excitement for our students. Both the students and Miss Lockwood should be proud of their work, creativity and imagination, because we sure are.
Working Bee
Thank you to our families, students and staff who volunteered their time at our School Working Bee. Mr Quinn and Kasie had been organising this event for weeks and it was great to see their hard work pay off with a cleaned out shed, P & C cupboard and 10m of mulch spread in our playground.
Parent & Carer Community Group
Many of our fantastic P & C members took on the huge task of catering for the Corryong Camp draft recently. Thank you to everyone who helped in preparing food and serving to make this event a great success. This event alone raised over $3,000 for our school. This is only one of the many events or activities our P & C have undertaken this year to raise funds for our school. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this hardworking community and we look forward to thanking them next week in our final meeting of the year and beginning to plan for 2025.
Short Story Competition
At our most recent Assembly Mark Florence the Director of Community and Planning from Towong Shire attended to present an award to Indi a Year 5 SHS student for winning the Short Story Competition run by Towong Shire Libraries. Indi's story 'Happy Endings' is an incredibly detailed and descriptive story of a young girl who faces many adversities in her young life. Indi's story was published with other winners of the Short Story competition. Congratulations Indi for your excellent creative story, we can't wait to see how you continue to grow as an author!
Orientation Day
Next Tuesday the 10th of December we will be having a school wide transition or orientation day. Our Year 6 students will be spending the 10th engaging in activities as Year 7 students, with those attending Corryong College having another orientation day on the 11th also.
We will welcome our 2025 Foundation students after a successful transition program for a whole day, with all of our students going into the year level and class they will be in, in 2025. Our class structures will be
Junior - Foundation & Year One,
Middle - Year Two, Three & Four,
Senior - Year Five & Six.
Classroom teachers will be announced to students and the community on Monday prior to Orientation Day.
Student Leadership 2025
I have had the great pleasure of accepting the letters of students wanting to apply for a variety of Student Leadership positions next year. After receiving their letters, they have each had an interview discussing their leadership aspirations and goals. Next Staff will vote and then students. The Student Representative Council raised the idea of students also getting to vote on their Student Leaders for 2025, which will be introduced this year.
