Premier’s Reading Challenge 2024

Congratulations to the 288 Roselea children who completed this year’s 2024 Premier’s Reading Challenge.

Children who completed the challenge will be receiving a special certificate from the Premier of NSW in recognition of their efforts. This certificate will not come to the school until late Term 4 but will be handed to children upon arrival. Children who have completed 4 challenges in a row will receive a gold certificate and children who have completed seven challenges in a row will receive a platinum certificate.

Children in K-2, who have been at our school for most or all of this year, automatically complete the challenge because the books have been read to them by the teachers and me.  Years 3-6 can borrow the challenge books from our library, a local library, or read books from home that are in the challenge.

As the challenge officially runs from 1 September until the following August each year, students can complete the challenge before the end of the school year and/or over the summer holidays.  If children would like to do this, they may. Children will need to keep a paper list of books they read as they cannot be entered electronically until March of next year. If they would like a challenge recording sheet, they may ask me for a copy.

The rules allow students, years 3-6, to read 10 choice books and 10 Reading Challenge books.    I suggest children write down each book they read from now. This will help them to complete the 2025 challenge.

Children can easily access the PRC website from their DET portal.  There is a tile on the home page that directs them to the PRC.

If you would like more information about the PRC you can login to the site, simply google Premiers Reading Challenge or PRC and select PRC NSW.

The new 2025 information is not uploaded until March 2025, but the current website still gives a lot of information about the PRC.

Thank you
