Celebrating Creativity, Achievement, and End of Year Milestones

As we move through a bustling Term 4, our college community has been humming with activity, creativity, and a shared sense of achievement.  In week 4, the VCE Art, Design, and Media Exhibition captivated us all, with students’ inspiring pieces on display, each artwork offering a unique window into their creativity and courage. The talent and dedication of our young artists have once again set a high standard, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who attended.

Our Year 12 students continue with their VCE exams, showing remarkable focus and strength as they tackle each exam. Meanwhile, Year 11 and Year 10 students are approaching their own final formal classes, followed by exams and the upcoming 2025 VCE Head Start Program, which will give them an exciting preview of next year’s courses, subjects and opportunities.

The recent Dance Night, held at the end of Week 3, was a resounding success. Our dancers lit up the stage, and it was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and energy they brought to every performance. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our performers. It was another night to remember!

In addition, our Year 8 students have just returned from their camp. There is no doubt they will share stories and laughs from their experience, adventures, and new friendships made for years to come. Camps like these are a cherished part of MGC life, giving students the chance to step outside their comfort zones and build lifelong memories.

Looking ahead, we are preparing for our upcoming school review, scheduled for Term 1, 2025. All government schools participate in a school review every 4 years.  The school review process will inform the development of our next 4-year Strategic Plan. It is this plan that will help us plan for and embed our next level of improvement for the next 4 years.  This review presents a valuable opportunity to seek feedback and hear from our entire college community as we come together to celebrate our achievements and identify our next areas for growth. We extend our thanks to the parents and carers who joined our recent focus group on Thursday, 14 November. Your time, feedback, and insights were greatly appreciated and will be invaluable in guiding our reflections.  We look forward to continuing to engage our college community throughout the review process in the coming months.

We are also eagerly looking forward to our upcoming Presentation Night on Tuesday, 26 November, at the Regent Ballroom. This special evening will be an opportunity not only to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students but also to reflect on a significant milestone; 30 years as a government all-girls college. Together, we will acknowledge and celebrate the legacy of Melbourne Girls’ College and the values of excellence, teamwork, and diversity that have shaped generations of young women. We invite all families and friends to join us in honouring both the achievements of our students and the remarkable history of our college.

Thank you all for your ongoing support as we round off the year. We look forward to celebrating these milestones and more in the weeks to come.
