Media Excursion
Reko Rennie at the NGV
Last week, our media class went on an excursion to ACMI and the NGV to visit the Reko Rennie exhibition. I really loved the excursion because we were able to explore the history of first nations peoples in film, which broadened my understanding and appreciation. I found it inspiring how Reko Rennie was able to combine Aboriginal paintings with street art, using different colours ranging from brown to neon pinks and yellows. Though sometimes quite simple or sometimes unclear of the true meaning, the art and depicted images were still always very moving. After we’d seen all the content at the Reko Rennie exhibition, we headed over to ACMI and finished our day there. We immersed ourselves in the story of the moving image. There were other elements of pop-culture present too, such as music and video games with an entire section of the exhibition dedicated to video games that you can play by your self or with friends if you have any. Overall, the excursion was very intriguing and we enjoyed becoming immersed to the amazing art we were lucky enough to see.
