They have created their own detailed maps. Students have also been learning about money. We have been focusing on counting coin and note collections and calculating change. Ask your child to calculate the change for purchases you make at the shops!

The final pieces were typed up and handwritten.
Reading
In Reading this term, we have been reviewing different reading strategies from our Systems of Strategic Actions (SOSA) wheel. Students have been using their skills that are taught in the classroom to practise analysing, inferring, critiquing and summarising fiction and non-fiction texts. We have also begun a book study on the novel ‘Wonder’ by R.J Palacio. Through this student have been developing their text and character analysis skills.
SWPBS/RRRR
This term in School Wide Positive Behaviours, students have reflected on all of our School Values, Respect, Responsibility, Excellence and Growth. Students were all given a new Personal and Social Capability Goal to work towards achieving throughout the term.
In Respectful Relationships, Grade 3/4 students have explored Gender and Identity. Students have focused on how we are all different whilst also investigating how we are also all the same. Students have built upon the connections and relationships they have with their peers, created a personal identity wheel including student's strengths, interests and family and have explored positive gender relations, discussing discrimination and stereotypes. Students have a lot to celebrate this term in Respectful Relationships.
Spelling
This term in Spelling students have explored a range of concepts. They revised how to use the rule of double consonants and explored adding suffixes and prefixes to base words. Grade 3/4s also continued looking at homophones such as which, witch and wich as well as their, they’re and there. Contractions were another focus where students applied apostrophes such as don’t, doesn’t and can’t. Students were able to show their understanding in PAT spelling and Oxford words during assessment weeks where they showcased their spelling skills.
