Interschool Sport
As our year of interschool sport wraps up, I am excited to share our final competition write-up to celebrate the dedication, sportsmanship, and achievements of all our students. It has been a fantastic year filled with effort, teamwork, and personal bests, and we couldn't be prouder of everyone who represented our school. Thank you to all the athletes, coaches, and supporters for making this year so memorable!
Regional Athletics Carnival
Eighteen students traveled to Casey Fields Athletics Track to compete in the Region Athletics Carnival, where they had a fantastic day testing their skills against some incredibly talented athletes from across the region. Special mention goes to Summer F, who earned 3rd place in the 10-year-old girls Long Jump, and Delilah D, who achieved 1st place in the 12/13 girls Triple Jump and 3rd place in the 12/13 girls 200m sprint. All students are to be commended for their outstanding performances, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the event. Well done to everyone who participated!
State Track and Field Championships
On November 6th, Delilah D competed in the 12/13 Girls Triple Jump event at the State Track and Field Championships. Delilah put in an outstanding performance, finishing 4th in a highly competitive field. This is an incredible achievement, and we are extremely proud of her dedication and effort. Well done, Delilah – you’ve truly represented us with excellence!
Delilah makes State Team!!!!!
A few weeks ago, Delilah travelled to Lakeside Athletics Centre to trial for the School Sport Victoria Track and Field team. We are pleased to announce that Delilah has been selected to represent SSV at the upcoming School Sport Australia Championships, which will be held in Sydney, NSW from Thursday, 28 November to Monday, 2 December 2024. We wish Delilah all the best as she competes at this prestigious event and look forward to hearing how she performs.
Division and Regional Basketball Competitions
Our Year 6 girls' basketball team has had some brilliant results over the past few weeks. Firstly, the team competed at the Division level, where, according to Coach Balzary, the girls played two strong games to dominate the competition and ultimately win the title. With this victory, they advanced to the Region competition, which was highly competitive with 8 teams battling for a spot at state level. Our girls played with incredible skill and determination, blitzing through the round-robin and semifinal games. The final, however, saw a tough contest against St. Finbar’s Brighton East PS, where the opposition narrowly won 16-26. A huge congratulations to Jarlie, Pippa, Sienna, Delilah, Paige, Ayda, Lara W, Kayla and Ava on their fantastic achievements in both competitions!
