Grade 3/4 News
In Math, we’ve been working hard on learning different methods for multiplication and division.
By exploring strategies like skip counting, grouping, and using arrays, students are gaining a better understanding of how numbers work together.
These different methods help build confidence and flexibility in solving problems, making math feel easier and more fun!
Practicing at home can make a big difference too. Regular review of these strategies helps reinforce skills and build speed, so students feel ready to tackle new challenges in class. Thank you for supporting their learning at home!
This week, we are excited to begin exploring the topic of Chance and Probability!
We’ll learn how to make predictions and talk about things that might or might not happen—an important skill in understanding how likely events are.
We’re also starting a new unit on Celebrations.
As part of this, we’ll discuss what makes a celebration special and meaningful, and we’ll focus on Remembrance Day to learn about its symbols and emblems.
Your child may share their discoveries with you.
Today we had an incursion from Living with Wildlife.
The students learnt about local hollow dependent species and why/how they utilise a box or hollow.
They discovered how a box will help these animals and considerations for deciding what box designs to get made and where to place them, as well as box features, eg entrance hole size, internal ladders for parrot chicks to be able to climb out and design features to deter feral species and predators.
Students will have input in making some of the boxes which will be place in our trees at school to help our local species.
