Foundation News

The Foundation team would like to thank all the parents, siblings, grandparents and friends who were able to attend last week's liturgy. The students did such a great job, reading, singing and trying to stay still in our Chapel space making it a lovely prayer experience for all.

This week we have next year's Foundation students visiting school for their first transition morning. It’s hard to believe that it was only a year ago that we were welcoming our current Foundation students to school. Although, it is quite amazing to think of what they have learnt and can achieve on their own in the classroom along with their way they have matured in the playground.

In Literacy we continue to work with the students in whole class and small focus groups on reading strategies to work out familiar and unfamiliar words. Students are reading with increasing fluency and expression and are enjoying being able to respond and make connections with so many texts.

In Writing we have been looking at ‘questions’, ‘asking’, not ‘telling’. We are preparing a few questions for the students to create an interview for someone in their family (this can be for parents or grandparents). This will come home at the end of the week and we would appreciate it if you could help them ask the family member and bring it back to class after our report writing day on Tuesday the 19th of November. We will share these in our classrooms.

In Mathematics we are looking at repeated addition and sharing - it would be great if you could support this at home by asking questions involving this at home.

Here are our award winners from the last week.
