Assistant Principal

Year 7 & 8

On Tuesday the 26th of November the college held the 2025 Year 7 Parent Information Evening. It was great to meet all the new students and families on the night and welcome them to the college community. Parents and carers heard from our college principal, sub-school leader, and curriculum leader with regards to what to expect next at Lalor Secondary College. On Tuesday December 3rd we will also be hosting an additional parent information session. This will be a simpler, shorter session targeted at our non-English speaking families who require an interpreter to access information. It will be held in the Hall from 1:30pm-3pm.

Over the course of the week, I have had the pleasure of visiting our year 8 Inquiry classes and speaking to the students about their project for the semester. It has been wonderful hearing from the students about what they have been working towards. Students have looked to design a product to take to market that centre around the college values. Students will be “selling” their products at the market days this week. I wish them all the best and look forward to seeing all their hard work come to fruition.

A reminder that Lalor Secondary’s End of Year Program begins on Monday the 9th of December. The End of Year Program is provided to our students in year 7 to 9 as an alternative to the regular teaching and learning program. Students are engaged in a variety of activities and experiences to see them to the end of the year and celebrate their achievements across the year. Students will be involved in year level excursions, magic shows, an amazing race, and much more. These are regular school days and student are expected to be in attendance. Students have been warned that if they are not demonstrating the college values, they are at risk of not being allowed to attend the excursions/incursions during activities week.

As we look to finish what has been a very eventful and successful year, I would like to take the time to thank a number of key people that are supporting our students day in and day out. I would like to thank the junior school team for their continual efforts in supporting the many varied needs that they are faced with each day, supported and lead by sub-school leader Samantha Pike.  I would also like to thank the amazing wellbeing team for their relentless care for our students that are most at need, your efforts and support may seem unnoticed but are very much appreciated and valued. Thank you to the programs team and their work in engaging our students and providing enrichment opportunities to help students reach their potential and meet their needs. And finally, thank you to the Disability Inclusion and integration aide team for their tireless efforts in working closely to assist our students each and every day.
