School Principal

Mr Corey Jewell

Over the past 3 years the college has been significantly disrupted by the capital works project with builders on site and temporary fencing a way of life around the college. At the end of term 1 this year, the project finally came to an end and the school took possession of all the new buildings. This was challenging for many students and staff with a significant amount of staff and student movement across the college. We had over 75 staff move into the new LA building, as well as the Year 9 and 10 cohorts moving out of the corridors and into the 100’s area, while the Year 11 and 12 students moved onto the roof of the LA building. Over the year, each of the student cohorts has made the new spaces their own and staff have adjusted to the change in locations. It finally feels just like a school again, which was welcomed by all within the college.

As part of the new build the school partnered with the Whittlesea Basketball Association and provided a new space for local basketball to occur. The 2 new courts are being hired out 5 nights a week and being used all day on a Saturday. This partnership will allow more local students to get actively involved in physical activity which was a key consideration prior to the funding being received.

2024 was the second year of the school’s strategic plan with an increased focus on the following key improvement strategies.

  • To create and embed a LSC teaching and learning Implementation Map
  • Investigate and determine the LSC IT collaborative platform
  • Review and revise the LSC student engagement framework
  • Develop a collective understanding of student agency across the college

This work has progressed rapidly with the collaboration between staff increasing significantly. We look forward to the continuous improvement journey of the college continuing next year, as it has for the past 20 years.

The 2024 school program was filled with an enormous amount of opportunity for students, with highlights being the Spring Concert, the school production of High School Musical, the QLD Gold Coast camp, World refugee Day, Harmony Day, Fun Run and the RUOK celebrations. The Year 12 school leaders have created a warm and welcoming environment in 2024 and established a mature culture in the new senior study space. All the leaders have been impressive, and I wish the class of 2024 all the best with their endeavours.

The school has had many new staff join the college in recent years including many ex-students. This has only enhanced the staff culture across the college with a genuine passion and interest in assisting the students to reach their full potential. I thank all the staff members for their continued efforts in meeting the needs of our community.

Our students have again been wonderful this year, with polite, engaged, enthusiastic students across the college in all year levels. Our students continue to choose to make our school a great place to come each day and it’s this that makes our school a great school.

To all the parents / carers / guardians, the support you have provided to your children in 2024 has provided the foundation that allows them to excel and engage in the classroom and involve themselves in the extra-curricular opportunities. I thank you for your continued efforts in what can be a very challenging time for parents / carers and guardians.

We look forward to 2025, where we will establish allocated areas for likeminded students to gather and share their passions across different year levels. I wish our entire community a happy, safe and festive time over the break with family and friends.
