A Time of Reflection, Focus, and Looking Ahead
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, there is a sense of both reflection and anticipation in the air. While many are caught up in the excitement of the recent Adelaide Christmas Pageant, we are also mindful that the season of Advent is just around the corner, reminding us of the journey of hope, preparation, and anticipation. Similarly, in our school community, there is a palpable tension between the present and the future.
Right now, our Year 12 students are focused on the final stages of their SACE examinations, a culmination of years of hard work and dedication. It’s a challenging time for them, as they balance the pressure of exams with the excitement of what lies beyond. At the same time, all other students are preparing for their own end-of-year assessments and assignments, a critical moment in their academic journey. We are proud of the focus and efforts our students continue to show as they proceed through these important milestones.
While we are deeply focused on the demands of the present, our attention is also turned toward the future, particularly to 2025 and beyond. Planning for next year is already well underway, and we are happy to share some developments that will shape the educational experience for our students in the years to come. One of the exciting initiatives is the enhancement of our library education across both campuses. We have worked to introduce a full-time Library Integrator to lead the Junior Library and a full-time Teacher Librarian in the Senior School. This investment is part of a broader strategy to strengthen a culture of reading, literacy, and research within our college community.
This initiative is designed to support the development of critical skills that will benefit students as they progress through their academic journey. Strong literacy and research skills are essential for success in all subjects, and particularly so for the successful completion of the SACE. Our goal is to ensure that students have access to the resources and guidance they need to build these essential skills, which will serve them not only in their current studies but also in their future careers and lifelong learning.
In addition, we have employed a Junior School Science teacher, from the start of 2025, who will play a key role in delivering the science curriculum. Giving our students additional opportunities to develop their analytical skills, data interpretation, and critical thinking abilities. This initiative will include the Year 5 and Year 6 students regularly completing their learning in the science laboratories located in the Senior School.
As we navigate this busy time of year, I encourage our students, staff, and families to take moments to reflect, to be present in the here and now, but also to keep in mind the exciting possibilities of the future. We are all on a journey, and the path ahead is full of opportunity.
