People keep asking, "Are you starting to wind up for end of year yet?", but at BPS, the months of November and December can get very busy, with transition programs, assessment and reporting, camps, incursions, BikeEd, excursions, concert, graduation and class celebrations. We really do try to fit in as much as we can into these last few months, and the past 2 weeks have been no exception.
Two weeks ago, our Year 3/4 students headed off to Cave Hill Creek for their 3-day camp. The students had a wonderful time and created some amazing memories. A huge thank you to Miss Mawby, Mrs Jacobs, Mr Shuttleworth, Mark and Wade for your organisation and support of this program.
Last week, the Year 3 to 6s started BikeEd. Student have at least 45 minutes on their bikes each day, learning lifelong bike and road safety skills. All these sessions will come together on Thursday 5th December with our Year 5/6 Raglan Ride and Year 3/4 Bike Challange Day. At the conclusion of these 2 events, we ask that all students take their bikes home. If you need to make alternative arrangements, please reach out.
On Tuesday, last week, we had the Tour DeCure stop by the school. The cyclists are promoting healthy life choices, whilst raising money for cancer research. Our Junior School Council generously donated $500 of their fundraising efforts to the cyclist. Students had the opportunity to see an Olympic Gold medal of one of the cyclists.
On Wednesday, we had five Year 5/6 students take part in the First Lego League Competition in Ballarat. These students created their own Lego robot and completed coding to make it interact through challenges. The team brought home a Lego trophy for their wonderful robot construction.
On Friday night, we invited our Year 2 students to take part in the Year 2 Sleep In. The students had a wonderful time and enjoyed activities such as orienteering, DJ Rush's Dance Party, movie and popcorn, chalk drawing and a play at the local playground. A huge thank you to Mrs McBride, Mrs Dallas and Mrs Bray for supporting this camp program.
Photos from the Year 2 Sleep In and Year 3/4 Camp can be found on their year level pages.
Today, we welcomed Junk Yard Beats to school to provide a music and sustainability incursion for all our students.
Next week will be another busy week, with only 3 weeks left of the year. Just a reminder that Friday is a curriculum and report writing day for staff. Students are not required at school on this day.
