Student Achievements!

Ella Places First in Junior Triathlon!

St Stephen's student, Ella, recently competed in the Peninsula Triathlon and Aquathlon trials, coming first and earning herself a place in the Queensland State Championships being held in Hervey Bay in February next year.

The competitive sport of triathlon involves a 300m swim, a 10km bike ride and a 2km run. Ella trains 5 times per week, swimming, riding and running, and has previously experienced success in the sport, making the Queensland team last year where she competed in Western Australia, placing 15th in Australia for her age group. Her goal is to once again make the Queensland team and make the podium at the national championships in March next year.

Although Ella has a busy training schedule, her school work always comes first and she ensures her homework and school commitments are her number one priority. A positive mindset plays a very important part in success in the sport and staying positive is required to finish strong.

Ella has also been selected for the Aus Triathlon State Pathways Program. This program offers coaching and guidance opportunities and is available for athletes based on their achievements and times in running, swimming and cycling. Ella will participate in an Aus Triathlon camp soon at the Gold Coast Performance Centre where she will have opportunities to further develop in the sport. We wish Ella all the best and can't wait to hear about her future achievements!

Harley Places First in Junior Triathlon!

Another of our students, Harley, also experienced success at the recent Peninsula Triathlon and Aquathlon trials held at Trinity Anglican School in White Rock. Harley came first and earned himself a place in the Queensland State Championships being held in Hervey Bay in February next year.

Harley enjoys triathlon because it is a combination of his two favourite events - running and swimming. He is also enjoying the challenge of the cycling aspect of the sport and is strengthening his skills in this area.

Harley trains most mornings and afternoons year-round, and is part of various clubs including; the Peak Performance Track Club, Mareeba Wildcats Swim Club, and Cairns Crocs Triathlon Club. He has several coaches who assist with each of the individual components of the sport.

Congratulations Harley - we wish you well for your upcoming competition and look forward to hearing how it goes!
