Number & Algebra   I   Measurement & Geometry   I   Statistics & Probability

Learning will continue to occur through hands-on activities to further develop and consolidate the children’s understanding of the four operations. They will also be involved in learning to problem solve through activities and games. Students will be learning to match numerals and collections using place value. They will be involved in understanding our base 10 system and record numbers by bundling groups of 10 objects and using tens and ones to record and count higher numbers.

In Measurement, we will be learning to order daily events. Students will connect the days of the week to familiar events and actions and learn to read the calendar and order the months of the year. With the concept of 'time' the students will learn to read an analogue and digital clock and will describe the parts of the clock and show time to the hour. Students will be involved in sorting, describing and naming familiar two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects in the environment. They will learn to sort, compare and measure the capacity of objects and estimate, measure and compare the length of different materials.

In Statistics and Probability, students will be continuing to collect data by using tally marks and create simple graphs, such as picture graphs. They will be interpreting the data by answering questions about their graphs.
