Ocean Day
Hi, my name is Daniel. On behalf of the Student Representative Council, I'd like to tell you about Ocean Day, which is on Thursday, October 10th—the fourth day of Term 4.
Students are invited to come to school with a fun surf hat/sun hat/straw hat or the like as an accessory. Students are to still wear their school uniform. It’s going to be shrimp-ly amazing.
Students might have noticed some dolphin-shaped icons spray-painted around school. They have been placed near some of the school drains to remind them that everything you litter or any rubbish you leave behind can get in the drains and out to sea. Keep that in mind every time you see waste or rubbish on the ground and make sure you're not the one littering.
We ask that you do not forget to bring along a gold coin to support our donation to the Australian Marine Conservation Society, a not-for-profit organisation that is devoted to protecting the sea, its plants and its wildlife. Your donation will allow the AMCS to fight against plastics use by our supermarkets, and to fight for stronger national environmental laws to protect vulnerable marine species like the Australian sea lion.
So, students are to come to school on Thursday, the 10th of October with a surf hat/sun hat/straw hat, and bring a gold coin donation to support the ocean.
Okay, we’re o-fish-ally ready! See you then, everybody! - right on the fourth day of Term 4!
