Mildura Lifesaving Club

The Mildura Lifesaving Club is looking for members to help run volunteer patrols over the summer.

Our club is running the volunteer lifesaving course this month, which is suitable for anyone aged 13+. The course starts on Saturday 19 October and is free. The only cost is club membership that is $35/individual and $80/family.

There are lots of options and all we ask is for members to volunteer 5 hours a month over summer (10 would be great).  5 hours is 1 patrol on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. It's a great way to give back to the community, make some new friends and be part of a highly innovative organisation.

If you are not keen on water, there are land-based roles too:

  • First Aid Officer: Provide essential medical support on patrol. (first aid certificate or advanced resuscitation)
  • Observer: Help monitor beachgoers and identify key risks with a quick 1.5 - 2 hour course.
  • Radio Operator: Offer vital communication support after completing the Observer and Radio Operators Certificate.

If you love the water, you can dive into these rescue roles:

  • Patrol Member – Bronze Medallion: Your ultimate lifesaving qualification, this 40 hours course, spread over 6-8 weeks sets you up to save lives in and out of the water.
  • Patrol Member – Surf Rescue Certificate: must by 13 by 30 November 2024, this qualification allows you to be involved in water rescues in and out of the water.

Please see attached a flyer with the course dates, registrations are closing on the 13 October so please register ASAP.

Lifeline Loddon Mallee

The Lifeline Loddon Mallee have a volunteer opportunity coming up in our Sunraysia area. Our phone hub in Mildura opened late 2022. We currently have around 15 Volunteers and as a Volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporter myself, we have a dream of one day opening up our very own centre in Sunraysia, available to everyone in our community. But to do this, we need more local Volunteers.

We are wanting to expand our local cohort of Telephone Crisis Supporters, we are currently recruiting for our next training starting in November 2024 and it would be fantastic if we could get some more local community members on board.

If its not too much to ask, would you mind sharing the attached business card with your community contacts, whether it be internally with your staff, in your newsletter, via email or social media any traction would be greatly appreciated.

The QR code on the business card attached has all the details, how to get on board.

I would also be happy to answer any questions and supply further information if needed, just reply via email.
