Report from the Junior School

The junior years have had an exciting and busy term 3!

The Year 7 cohort continued to develop their personal skills with the completion of the Teen Mental Health First Aid training. We hope that this program will be valuable to them in navigating their High School years. The House competition is still going strong with challenges such as the longest paper chain! Finally, the Year 7 have also been working on planning their fun day for next term.

The Year 8 cohort had a busy term 3 with a number of incursions aimed at equipping students with skills that will help both inside and outside the classroom. They started with Elevate, an incursion designed to help student develop study skills and study routines. They also had a very successful Leadership Day, with a focus on leadership skills and being a positive leader. During the day, students learnt from a variety of leaders who shared their personal experience and valuable insights and strategies on how to stand up for a cause or how to build up their confidence in public speaking. Students learnt about the concepts of advocacy and how it can take different forms, starting from personal advocacy all the way up to universal advocacy. The team of very relatable presenters led students to think about how they could use their voice and what they could use it for.

We also had some fantastic sporting results: both our Year 7 and 8 table tennis groups have done well, our year 8 boys footy team made it to regionals and our year 8 girls soccer team made it to state in spite of their game being interrupted by a lightening storm!

The Year 8 team has also been working really hard on organising our Summit Adventure Camp for the first week back of term 4. We are looking forward to see students challenge themselves (and their teachers) to undertake a variety of adventure outdoor activities.

We hope you all have a fantastic break and see you next term!
