VCE Vocational Major

Raising awareness on social and environmental issues

Well done to Year 12 VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) students. The class recently worked on a project that involved researching four major social and environmental issues. They then used their team work and leadership skills to plan how they could raise awareness of the four issues. The teams discussed the need for an NHS Instagram page, and how this could be used to help spread awareness in our community.

The class then presented their ideas to Mr Jones and Ms Charenton, highlighting the primary and secondary research that supported the need for an NHS Instagram page. Watch this space!

Structured work placement success

Year 11 VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) students have been learning about the process of job applications. The group have focused on close reading of job advertisements and job descriptions to help create tailored cover letters and resumes, plus practising interview skills. Many students have been proactive in using these skills to find their own Structured Work Placement (SWL) in the area of their VET subject.

Students developed their knowledge and experience within their chosen industry. Special congratulations to the following students..

Itana Rocco:

VET Cert II Business

SWL: KG Architecture

Thank you to all the employers who provide young people with the opportunity to learn in industry and develop their resumes.

Year 11 Personal Development Skills

The focus this term was to plan a community based project. The class went to Blue Cross Care Home in Westgarth. This was a wonderful experience that students fully engaged in. We spoke with the residents, played chess and scrabble and participated in chair exercise. Thank you to all at the care home, you were very welcoming and the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
